Progression by Ian Burns is a work of art that, rather than follow more belligerent illuminated text art traditions, provides a kind of temporal spatial projection experience suggestive of movement, leaving the viewer to use their imagination to move on from the open ended possibilities.
The text is created by projecting the filaments of standard incandescent light bulbs using dime store magnifying glasses. The nostalgia and magic of machine based projection of light activate curiosity and hope.
